Sports is one of the best things that ever happened to this world. It gave many of us meaning and a sense of responsibility, and a sense of meaning. Through sports, we realized that exercising can not only be healthy but also fun, who’d thought that otherwise. Today I’d like to talk about 5 of my top combat sports that you need to start following now. For those who don’t know what combat sports are, it is a form of full contact one on one combat where fighters fight under the rule of the particular form of sports.

1.      Boxing:

Boxing is one of the world’s most renowned sports of all time. It is, a combat sport where two people wearing gloves attack each other with different combinations of punching. Boxing involves two fighters with a referee who judges on fouls, count downs, and the safety of the fighters. Though boxing dates back to the Romans, where it was first introduced in the Olympics, it has become increasingly famous during the 20th century. Boxing in the modern era is a well-known sport and is played in the Olympics as well as the Commonwealth Games. Boxing has seen great fighters as it has progressed throughout its time, Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest fighters of all time, and was greatly celebrated. At the moment we do have living legends in boxing, Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao and many others. Boxing is like I said one of the all-time greatest sport, the anticipation, the drama, the unexpected results all add up to make the perfect all round sport which you can watch and follow with great passion.

2.      Muay-Thai:

The next I want to talk about is Muay Thai. It is known as one of the most dangerous sports in the world, with its hardline punches and insane grappling. Muay-Thai origins from Thailand itself and is therefore referred to as Thai-Boxing. Muay-Thai involves the presence of both mental and physical skills in a person, and is a full body workout which is why it is referred to as ‘the art of eight Limbs’. Muay-Thai got its name out also in the 20th century when many of its fighters defeated other fighters of different martial arts. Muay-Thai is known for its lethal-ness and this is what makes it so exhilarating. Muay Thai although an old sport is now modernized and there are proper councils set up for it, all around the world. Gyms have also been set up across the globe from where new fighters emerge every day. Muay Thai is an intense sport with an aggressive nature, which can be enjoyed by anyone who loves destructive combat with a hint of culture and history to it. Follow Muay Thai I guarantee you’ll love it.

3.      Mixed Martial Art/ MMA:

MMA at the moment is probably the most prominent sport. Everyone has a small idea of what it might be about, even those who don’t have a clue about sports. MMA, although renowned for quite a long time has, never got the fame it has today. It involves the mixture of striking and grappling and involves combinations from different styles of fighting and martial arts. With one round of 5 minutes and a total of 3 rounds, MMA is a gruesome sport with only the very tough of men surviving the sport. I will say this if you want to follow up to MMA, now’s a perfect time. With the Mayweather VS Mcgregor fight just around the corner, MMA is a well-developed and highly recognized sport. The icons of present time MMA is what has got it fame, with names like Conor Mcgregor, Nate Diaz, Randy Couture, Jon Jones and Anderson Silva. Mix Martial Arts is one of the roughest sports of all time even more so than Muay Thai at times and is a very exciting form of sport and throwing punches at a punching bag is always fun.

4.      Wrestling:

Wrestling is a very famous sport, yet what it is really famous for is not really wrestling at all. At this day and age wrestling is mostly referred to as “Pro” wrestling, which is just a bunch of pretenders acting to get hurt real badly. Pro Wrestling is a prime example of the takeover of legitimate sports by corporations, but let’s not carry the discussion away from actual wrestling. Wrestling might just be the oldest of all these combat sports and different styles of it have existed throughout history and different cultures. Wrestling in modern times is really a mixture of grapples, clenching, choke holds, take downs and pins. Wrestling is fought internationally on platforms such as the Olympics and many other championship matches take place throughout the world. Wrestlers come from all over the world and great names include the likes of Dan Gable, Hamid Sourian, Alexander Karelin and many others. If you want to get into Wrestling you’d need to stay away from so called sports like WWE, these “entertainments” are what have deprived the world of the truth of sport of wrestling, and I’ll tell you this with assurance the genuine kind of wrestling is the real stuff because if you want entertainment to go watch some action movies.

5.      Brazilian Ju-Jitsu:

Brazilian Ju-Jitsu as you can tell by its name comes from Brazil. Ju-Jitsu is a form of martial art and it mostly involves different forms of grapples and ground fighting. Jiu-jitsu is all about control, technique, and finesse, and grappling and forcing your opponent to the ground after which he is disabled using a chokehold or other locks. Ju-jitsu is mostly about self-defense and is not much of an aggressive sport.   Ju-jitsu can also be booked as a code of life where mental, physical, spiritual and emotional abilities all come into account. Ju-jitsu may not be as violent as Muay Thai, however, it should not be forgotten that it is all about the proper conduct of fighting. If are of historical and cultural importance Ju-Jitsu is the sport for you. It is a devised form of Judo which was originally from Japan when Judo came to Brazil it had some of its rules changed for minor safety reasons. But I’ll tell you this sports with a long line of history and ethnicity is a great source of true involvement in something.
